Welcome to Uncle Leo's Bookcase.

For your reading and viewing pleasure, we suggest the following materials.

Leo’s Adventures.  Leo really did work at the SEC, doing investigations of people behaving badly.  To learn about some of his most interesting cases, read Den of Thieves, by James Stewart, which can be purchased online or at bookstores.

Wall Street. The movie Wall Street, directed by Oliver Stone and starring Charlie Sheen, Michael Douglas and Martin Sheen, presents a fictionalized version of the world Leo investigated. See people lust for money, success and each other. See them do whatever it takes to succeed. See where it all takes them. The movie is intense, fast paced, and gets to the bottom line. It can be purchased online in DVD.

Greed.  One of the great cinematic treatments of greed is The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, a film starring Humphrey Bogart and directed by John Huston (who won the Academy Awards for Directing and Screenplay for this movie).  This is a hard-bitten Western.  Three small-time prospectors get a chance to hit the mother lode.  They can’t pass up the opportunity, and head into bandit country to seek the treasure. There they suffer the consequences of uncontrolled greed.  This movie tells a great adventure story that will leave you with a better appreciation for what you’ve got. It can be purchased online in DVD and makes an occasional appearance on cable TV.
